I love looking inside homes that have undergone a major transformation. And the Northern Beaches property I’m showing you today is taking that love to a whole new level.
I’ve featured many before and after room reveals on the blog before, especially some budget makeovers like this cheap-as kitchen reno. But then there are properties that have had an entire makeover and are worthy of a real look-in and gasp at. And this is one of them!
Situated in the seaside suburb of Fairlight, which is about 13km North of the Sydney CBD, the home was given a new lease on life from the talented team at MM+J Architects. So let’s take a closer look.
A Renovated Northern Beaches Property with Wow-Factor
Built in the 1920’s, the timber semi was in dire need of some additions and alterations. A new first floor was at the top of the list for the home owners, as was a revamped ground floor to the rear of the property. New decking and car parking was also required, along with a new entrance for the home (which was created in the side elevation).
The original house facade facing the street was retained, and I love it. From the street, it’s still got every bit of its original charm, but what happens inside the home is altogether new, fresh and contemporary. It’s a contrast I’m utterly smitten with.
Internally, as you can see in the slideshow below, the living spaces are bright, minimal and airy, opening to the rear courtyard and raised decking area. An indoor-meets-out vibe in a home; I’m a huge fan of it. And I think the team nailed that feel perfectly. The transition is seamless and I adore the mix of materials. It’s a textural wonderland out back and I love the sense of warmth.
