Mid Century Bedding from Lorraine Lea The Life Creative how to make a bed

Welcome to The Life Creative; home of me… design nut Chris Carroll.

A confession straight off the bat: Years ago (before I studied to become an interior designer), I made every rookie decorating mistake known to man. When it came to home styling disasters, I’d been there, done that, and got the t-shirt. So if you’ve ever felt that you don’t quite ‘get it’ when it comes to decorating… I’ve been right where you are!

Now that I’m in the industry; working as a designer, decorator and property stylist, I feel compelled to save you from making the same mistakes I did. And that’s why The Life Creative was born; to make great design easy, and to help you to create your dream home.

The Life Creative started out as an interiors blog back in 2012 and has since expanded into a fully-fledged design, styling and home staging business.

How Can I Help? I’m glad you asked!

If I do nothing else through the blog other than make interior design easy for you to understand, then my job is done. If you get inspired and have a laugh along the way, even better.

But if you want to go a step further, we can also work together on:

  • Interior Design for your Home: big or small, one room or 15 – I’m there to make it beautiful!
  • Home Staging for Sale: let me work my magic to help your property sell faster
  • Styling your Products: wonderfully styled photos for your upcoming campaign or catalogue
  • Creating video content for your website or social media channels
  • E-Design Mood Boards: for readers outside of Melbourne who need style assistance

My Philosophy: Great Design is for Everyone.

I believe that great design can be truly life-changing. I know, it sounds naff, doesn’t it? But it’s true. The space you wake up in of a morning, come home to of an afternoon, and curl up in at night has a direct effect on how you function, feel and face the day.

I don’t know how anyone could wake up feeling perky in a dark and dingy bedroom with an uncomfortable bed, layout that doesn’t work, and colours that aren’t right. Not without some pretty amazing mood stabilisers, anyway.

So that’s where I focus a lot of my energy when it comes to interiors: creating spaces that merge form and function – to make you feel happier in your day-to-day life.

I also believe that design doesn’t have to be so serious. I always have fun with my work and with the clients I work with, and think that great design should be – and can be – for everyone.

Bonus Brag: I’m also a Presenter & Author.

Having worked in interiors for few years and as a blogger even longer, some pretty awesome opportunities have come my way since The Life Creative was born back in 2012.

I currently work as a presenter, having hosted decorating segments on Channel 7‘s The Morning Show and on Sky News Australia in the past.

I now MC the Build Smart Series of events for Metricon Homes in Melbourne, and host regular decorating videos on their YouTube channel, which is a lot of fun.

I also recently authored my very first book, Sydney Precincts, which I was stoked to complete, and which you can read more about here.

Don’t be a Stranger!

So now that you know a little about me, I’d love to know some more about you! Please feel free to comment on the posts you read and ask me any questions on stuff you might need help with. I’m always around if you need advice, and I love reading your feedback and thoughts on the topics I cover on the blog.

Of course, I’m also available outside of the blog to meet you in-person to discuss any of the design services mentioned above.

If you’re keen to say hi on social media, it’s fair to say that I spend a lot of time on Facebook (here) and Instagram (here). And when it comes to Pinterest… I can easily spend hours in a Pinterest hole with no want to escape. Come say hi on Pinterest here if you like.

Thanks for stopping by!
